4 Tips to Create the Best Social Media Post Ever!

Careful planning, strategizing and plan execution are essential steps in order for a business to grow and become successful. Your brand’s online presence should be a key part in that plan. Social Media content doesn’t have to be complicated, but by keeping these tips in mind you can ensure your posts will receive high engagement and therefore greater reach!

Use a Call-To-Action

The primary goal of a social post is to create an online experience that prompts a real life action. While it’s important to create brand awareness, the majority of your posts should ask your followers to participate and engage with your post in some way. You can help start a conversation within your community by posting a question, or asking people to comment with their favorite version or use of your product. Adding CTA buttons like “Learn More” and “Contact Us” are great for increasing website traffic and provide an opportunity for followers to buy your product or goods immediately.

Formatting

Understanding the functionality of the platform you are posting on will ensure your post is relayed in a way that makes sense to your followers, and allows them to engage in all possible ways. For example, you may include a link in a Facebook post, however links on Instagram posts are not clickable. Asking a follower to copy and paste a link creates an additional ‘barrier of entry’ and will inevitably lower the amount of people who would likely click the link otherwise. Instead, include your Call-To-Action in your post copy and tell people to <click link in bio>. Hashtags are another example of a useful tool in social media, but should be varied in use depending on the platform you are posting on. Fifteen hashtags might make sense to gain exposure on an Instagram post, but one or two will suffice for a Tweet as you don’t want it to get lost in a thread of re-tweets.

Include Images and Videos

The phrase, “a picture is worth a thousand words” has been used for decades, and for a good reason. Using visuals in your post will evoke emotions and tell a story greater than your copy can. Don’t be afraid to try out a variety of photos and videos to see what resonates best with your audience. You can also include recurring graphics or themes to maintain brand consistency

Know Your Audience

All too often brands focus on the message they want to convey, without thinking about what their followers want to hear. If you’re struggling to reach a high engagement on your posts it might be time to tell the story a little differently. Try to envision what your perfect customer looks like. What are their interests? What is their style? Their sense of humor? Are they a trendy millennial looking for the next cool restaurant, or a corporate professional in search of the perfect conference space. Understanding your follower’s wants and needs outside of your own, will help you send the right message.

Having a strong presence on social media will help your business succeed in the real world. Time to start writing content with these four tips in mind for an effortless creative process.
