20 Ways to Make the '20s Your Decade
This New Year’s Eve, we’re not just welcoming a new year, but a new decade! Hard to believe we’ve already sailed through the ‘00s and ‘10s! Once you’re done reflecting over the last two decades, take a look at my list of 20 things to do this year to ensure smooth sailing throughout the next ten years.
Seek inward for validation rather than relying on others.
Quality thoughts turn into a quality life. Manifest your own destiny.
Follow-through on the promises you make to yourself. You matter.
Do things because YOU want to do them rather than to please those around you.
Thinking of someone? Give them a call instead of a text. Relationships with those we love matter.
Stop being busy just to be busy. Be intentional with your time and seek relaxation by meditating or taking a walk outside during periods of downtime.
Be good to people. Politeness matters. You never know the battles others are going through.
Carve time out of your Sundays to prepare for the upcoming week. You will be thankful you did come Monday.
When spending time with others, give them your attention and be present in the moment.
Reflect on your day by naming 5 good things that happened to you before going to bed. Gratitude matters.
When out in nature, leave the environment better than you found it. *This can translate to projects at work, too!
Take a risk. Don’t settle for average.
Do more than you’re expected. It’ll be worth it in the long run.
Drink more water throughout the day.
Limit your unsolicited advice. Sometimes people just need someone to listen to them.
Put your phone down. Not everything has to make it onto social media. Real memories matter.
Small daily changes are the key to long-term results.
Travel to one new place a year. Whether it’s near or far, exploration is good for the mind and soul.
Give to others. Whether it’s your time, money, skills, or something else, always try to help out the community around you.
Say yes to new experiences. Go to the concert your sister invited you to at the last minute or out to dinner with your new friend. Be spontaneous when the opportunity presents itself.
Have tips of your own? We’d love for you to share them. And if we don’t hear from you before then, Happy New Year!
