And That’s A Wrap!
Another year has flown by and looking back on the last 12 months, we can confidently say that we packed just about as much as we could into 2019! It was a busy year with many success stories, learning new things and growing as a company as well as a team. We did a lot of traveling, we hosted some fun events and we participated in others, we welcomed two new little Thin Piggies to the world and some of us went out of our comfort zone and learned new things about ourselves.
Here is our year in retrospect:
We did a lot of travelling to visit some of our wonderful clients, which took us from the East coast to the West coast and even to Canada and Colombia. We met many wonderful people on our travels, made a bunch of new friends, and we got to experience some of the local culture and sights.
Ashley’s Pacific Northwest visit to four Coast Hotels USA properties took her on a whirlwind week of adventures through the beautiful PNW countryside, many local sights and interesting eateries. Her PNW trip included client visits in Seattle, Pullman, Wenatchee (the Apple Capital of the World), and Spokane in WA, with a stop to Moscow ID, and finishing off in Portland, OR. “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”, and so along the way Ashley made sure to visit several local sights such as wine tastings at local Wenatchee vineyards, sampling Cougar Gold cheese, stopping by Washington State University (Go Cougars!) and exploring the local eateries and drinking holes in Portland, OR.
We welcomed two new Thin Pig piggies to the world this year. Baby Jamieson was born March 13th, and is a very happy and adventurous little guy just like his Thin Pig mom, Sarah. He spends his days trying to escape his grandfather’s homemade cardboard play pen and practicing standing up. We welcomed baby Annika to the Thin Pig team on August 28th. She is a bundle of joy and a happy smiley little girl just like her mother, Allye, and Harry, our little baby Thin Pig piggie from last year is a happy pitter patter of scurrying feet keeping his mom on her toes. Amanda says he has opened her eyes to how wondrous the little things are and is giving her the opportunity to experience life all over again.
Some of us challenged ourselves and went out of our comfort zones. Our founder Greg went to Burning Man in Black Rock Desert, Nevada and experienced life in a temporary desert city, saw beautiful, creative art, found out that sandstorms suck and made new friends and some great memories. (Greg’s recap of this experience was our 300th blog post!)
Katherine started off the year by pushing her limits and braving the rainy (and sometimes snowy!) Seattle winter to train for the Snoqualmie Valley half marathon in April. After enjoying a sunny summer of hiking and Lake Washington, it was time to buckled down again to train for the 50th Anniversary Seattle Marathon. Katherine finished the marathon in an impressive time of 4:31 and hopes to pick her next race in 2020 soon, so send any leads her way!
Andy fulfilled a longtime goal by getting his SCUBA certification, and to make it sweeter, he did it in Hawaii! He dislocated his shoulder celebrating in the rough waves off the North Shore afterwards, but he says it was totally worth it!
Paul and Amanda went to visit Sprout Social headquarters for the Sprout Agency Summit in Chicago and learned new useful tricks on how to better engage with our client’s clients on social media and saw what is in store for the upcoming months in 2020.
2019 brought growth to our Entertainment division with new clients and exciting projects. One of our clients launched his newest book which reached #2 on the New York Times Bestsellers List, this now brings Thin Pig's count of NYT Bestsellers to 9! We also expanded further in the country music industry, working on half a dozen video promotion campaigns for several different country stars that resulted in millions and millions of views. But we also kept to our roots in the comedy industry, helping our comedy clients sell millions of tickets at venues spanning the globe like Peru, the Philippines, and Turkey! All in all, we were proud to help shine the stage light on our entertainment clients and their work in 2019.
We attended several industry and professional development courses such as SXSW and the Digital Summits, and Ben hosted two panel discussions for independent film production in conjunction with Seattle International Film Festival, which were enthusiastically received.
And last, but certainly not least, we celebrated a couple of milestones this year as well. We had a big birthday: Thin Pig Media turned 10 years old! Our founder, Greg and our Vice President, Paul both celebrated their 10th year with Thin Pig Media and our President, Andy celebrated his 5th year with the company!
With 2019 coming to a close, please join us as we raise our glasses with a cheer for a new year of more growth, learning and many more adventures and milestones. From our Thin Pig family to yours, we wish you and yours a happy, healthy and prosperous new year!
