Coronoavirus, Chasing Snapchat, and More of This Week's News
Thin Pig’s team lives and breathes digital. Throughout the week, we pass amongst ourselves articles surrounding all facets of the social and digital landscape. This week, we are sharing a few of those stories that we think represent the state of the industry and the world at large. Enjoy!
Coronavirus continues to dominate the news this week and dramatically affect the social and digital industries. This week, South by Southwest was cancelled by the city of Austin over health concerns, adding the festival to other tech summits that have canceled events including Google I/O and Facebook F8. Expectations are that a decision on Apple’s WWDC will be forthcoming.
Coronavirus concerns are even leading to predatory price gouging on face masks and other medical supplies, and advertising platforms like Facebook are reacting.
Also this week, the race to copy features and marketshare from Snapchat continues with Twitter testing new “fleets” and Facebook revamping their Messages app (RIP Bots?).
